A Win (Sort Of)
By: Paul | July 22nd, 2009
Today, Athletic played their friendly against Spanish giants San Roque and won….because of an 88th minute penalty that was taken by Etxeberria. Llorente was brought in at half-time, but as the scoreline reflects didn’t really make his presence felt. In fact, San Roque were able to put pressure on Athletic numerous times. I always say that the results of pre-season friendlies aren’t a big deal, but with this unimpressive display against an unimpressive team, is it time to be worried?
Athletic’s line-up for the game:
Irazoz, Eneko, Castillo (Koikili 67′), Aitor Ocio, Amorebienta, Orbáiz, Susaeta (David López 62′), Gurpegui (Iturraspe 67′), Toquero (Munian 57′), Yeste (Etxeberria 62′), Oscar de Marcos ( Llorente 46′).
Iago was on the bench, but did not play.

nothing to worry about, the team was absolutely dire in pre-season friendlies last year. all that matters is the players are getting some fitness back

I’m not worried, but I’m starting to agree with you: sign Joseba Llorente now.

Did we sell Garmendia to Numancia or send him out on loan? what is ion velez still doing here if we got a striker and already have llorente, etxeberria and toquero, we need as much money as possible to sponsor joseba’s move
