Back From The Dead/3 Wins in a Row (AKA Our Llorente is Better than your Llorente)!
By: Paul | September 23rd, 2009
I’m not your typical college student. I enjoy good beer. In fact, I review beers online and on Saturday, I decided to review a Sierra Nevada Anniversary Ale (if you’re into beer, try it- it’s good). After a little while, some friends came over and my roommate and I finished the 12 pack we had and had a couple Coronas our friends brought, so needless to say I was drunk, finishing the night hugging the porcelain before going off to bed. Before all of that though, a disaster happened- I spilled an entire glass of Sierra Nevada Anniversary Ale all over my laptop. I remember it happening, but don’t remember the details exactly, but I’m told I turned the computer off, lifted it up, and then poured beer out of my computer. I think you can guess what happened the next day- on top of my hangover, my computer wouldn’t work. Because of that, I missed the game and because I couldn’t get it to work Monday or yesterday either, I wasn’t able to post about the game. Today, though, I turned it on and logged in and now it’s working (although my spacebar key isn’t working on the first try and my Enter and Backspace keys are a bit sticky). So there’s my reasoning for not posting anything until now. So, what exactly happened on Sunday? Read on.
Like I said before, I missed the game because I was “sick” and had computer problems, but I was made to feel better when my roommate turned on his (dry) computer for me and checked the final score: Athletic 3-Villareal 2; meaning that Athletic have won their first three games for the first time in 21 years. Two of the three goals scored were from headed crosses, and Llorente kept up his good form with two goals (one of those was one of the above mentioned headers). I read somewhere that Caparros said “we were great except for the last 20 minutes” and, from what I can read about the game, this seems like a true statement. Great start from our team, let’s just hope that the final 20 minutes don’t end up costing them in future games. I didn’t see the game, so if you have anything to add, start commenting!
Today, Athletic are in Tenerife and have a chance to win the first four games in the league for the first time since 1929. Today’s is a game I will be watching (assuming I can find a stream), as it’s a perfect excuse to put off responsibility- one of my favorite past-time activities.

I’m thrilled with the start to the season. Muniain looks fantastic, I can’t believe he is only 16. The last 20 minutes Villareal was really pressing, and they are still impressive going forwards so we were put under a lot of pressure. 3 wins, looking good to advance in the Europa League thus far, I’m very pleased with the start to the season.

All those beer names almost make me wish I drank beer (I prefer wine- usually red). Very interesting though.
Caparrós’ summation was quite right. For the last 20 minutes, I thought we’d end up 3-3 and it would be terrible.
I’m glad to see Llorente getting back on track too.

Paul, just for the record, is that a real computer in the picture, or something from Toys-R-Us? lol
