A little Basque humor~*
OK, let’s get it over with.
We were smashed, thrashed and bashed yesterday by Team Depor. We were outplayed and outmaneuvered. We couldn’t handle their 5 man backline. We got cocky, we let our X Factor, Markel Susaeta play with the youth team in Segunda B. We played route one football aka get the ball to LLorente and the Gallegos saw right thru our strategy.

Deportivo score vs a Athletic with little ambition (That penalty really killed our game)
Athletic now look towards the Intertoto ( I still think it’s too early for Europe)
Personally, 10th place and safety is quite an accomplishment for the Vascos. I am pretty content with that accomplishment. We just need to keep our feet on the ground and grind out one result at a time. Next week we play Valencia at el Catedral, San Mames. Valencia will be coming off the midweek Copa Del Rey final, so I am feeling rather good about this tie. Today’s day off should do our boys good. One goal at a time, one game at a time.
