Missed Opportunities…

The prodigal son, Gurpegui returns, but missed opportunities cost us the game.

What can I say! Athletic of late, has been in a bit of a slump. Three defeats in four games. The latest a defeat at home against an in form Mallorca 1-2. And we are still on 46 points. Yes, we’ve taken our foot off the gas! Yes, overconfidence has set in! To quote our fearless leader Caparros, we need to make the most out of our last three games and fight tooth and nail for 9 points.

Murcia our next rival away. We play against our ex-manager Clemente, a team relegated but not to be taken lightly. A must win situation. Espanyol (48 points) and Deportivo (49 points) are our direct rivals for Intertoto qualification.

Espanyol face Atletico Madrid at home, Villarreal away and Almeria at home.

Depor face Levante at home, Atletico away and Villarreal at home.

We face Murcia away, Racing at home and Sevilla away.

A very, very, tough few games for all three teams. Do you see any easy games here? I don’t. We need to win all three games and Depor and Espanyol both need to lose one and draw one. Too many connotations and it’s not looking good. Uggggh!

Not to add fuel to the fire, but Fran Yeste got into a pissing match with our manager and now is on Caparros’ shite list. Gurpegui will not play in the middle. Fran will not travel with the club. Oh great. Susaeta, our young stud is exhausted. He is going to stay home and rest. Take a break, Markel. We need you vs Racing.

So it’s now or never. Let the games begin.
